This is the final lab during which I took pictures. I call it "Flying Physics", and the premise is simple: Design an object that will fly, and build it using craft sticks and hot glue. There are many flying toys, from Frisbees to boomerangs. During this lab, the students found out that objects of many designs can be thrown, but not all will fly!!!!!  This lab was conducted while the high schoolers were taking final exams. During one class, a few of them wandered over, and took over the photography duties. Unfortunately, I don't know who took which pictures. However, I thank those high schoolers for helping out, and getting a student perspective on some of these pictures!

Nic reaches back for a mighty throw...

Nic3.JPG (40132 bytes)

...but even though it left the camera's field of view, Mariah & Becki seem unimpressed.

Aaron1.JPG (54522 bytes)

Aaron reaches back....

Aaron2.JPG (46831 bytes)

...and not only puts some power into it, he sends it off at a good angle! That old 'projectile motion' coming into play!

Adam1.JPG (53629 bytes)

Adam measures it up...

Adam2.JPG (45171 bytes)

...and gently sails it over to Andrew.

Scott2.JPG (47229 bytes)

Scott flings one of his two designs.

Scott_Saskia1.JPG (39306 bytes)

Saskia hangs around as Scott gives his second design one more chance.

Saskia2.JPG (56150 bytes)

Saskia was eager to show her successful design, as Destiny looks on.

Jackie, Christine, & Taite play a little 'catch' - provided the toy flies straight!

8-1_Boys1.JPG (48441 bytes)

Josh gathers a crowd as he prepares to fling a .... crate.

8-1_Boys2.JPG (41454 bytes)

The crate's up...

8-1_Boys3.JPG (41957 bytes)

...already leveling out...

8-1_Boys4.JPG (43939 bytes)

...and drops before it reaches Stephanie.

Jackie1.JPG (42254 bytes)

Jackie shows good form as she tosses it to Taite.

Jackie3.JPG (190558 bytes)

The toy loses steam air as it reaches Taite, however.

Jackie4.JPG (173911 bytes)

Jackie prepares to receive it back from Taite.

Jackie5.JPG (301603 bytes)

But it falls a little short on the return flight, too.

Dillon sails his physics toy, nearly taking out Kim! Scratch2.JPG (47707 bytes)

Tayler points out a scratch Lenny received during someone's testing.

Taite1.JPG (56744 bytes)

Taite coils up ...

Taite2.JPG (48297 bytes)

...and gives a powerful release!

Lenny.JPG (61091 bytes)

Lenny gives his design a try - and it was great!!

Matt tosses one back to Jake.

Eddie1.JPG (35599 bytes)

Eddie takes a walk to find his toy, while a U.F.O. hovers overhead.

Eddie2.JPG (55751 bytes)

Eddie apparently enjoyed testing out his design!

Taylor checks out her toy as her classmates test theirs behind her.

Taylor1.JPG (61305 bytes)

Taylor gives hers a whirl.

Matt1.JPG (46907 bytes)

Looks like Matt's about to chop off Taylor's head!!!

Matt2.JPG (42375 bytes)

Instead, he launches his toy without causing any concern for Taylor's well being.

Jake2.JPG (68756 bytes)

Jake finds the triangular 'boomerang' near the track!
